Once again, Holiday Resort Unity celebrated award-winning success at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards.

Our Dog Friendly café, COAST, which we opened in the spring of this year at Brean Leisure Park, picked up the gold award for Dog Friendly Business of the Year.

Described by the judges as “Fun and friendly, they made our dog incredibly welcome”, COAST has a bespoke menu for dogs which includes a three-course meal option, and beer and prosecco brewed just for dogs, as well as, of course, hot and cold food and drinks for dog-owners.  Blankets, towels, water bowls and treats are also available.

The café compliments our holiday park, which offers dog friendly holiday homes to hire, as well as dogs being welcome on our touring and camping fields, enabling people to enjoy a holiday without having to worry about leaving their pets behind.  A dedicated dog walk on site, as well as all the dog friendly walks in the area are a big pull for visitors.

Director Alan House said “We are delighted with the gold award for COAST. It was created as a result of both feedback from our customers, and also to benefit our local community.  With so many dog walkers using the beach and now the new stretch of the England Coast Path increasing footfall to the area, it’s great for dog owners to have somewhere to go whatever the weather where their dogs are welcome too.  It’s fantastic to be recognised not just for the service and facilities we provide in COAST, but because we listened, we created and we achieved”

For the second consecutive year we were awarded the silver accolade in Holiday Park of the Year.  As a business we are continually investing in all areas of the business year after year, making substantial improvements not only to our accommodation and facilities, but to ensure we are operating in a way to minimise our impact on the environment, maximising our efforts to look after local wildlife and conservation, and ensuring we are accessible and inclusive to all.

This year we have evolved further in engaging with the local community by increasing our number of events open to the public, which included a Somerset Day Fayre supporting local businesses and Outdoor Cinema Screenings, as well as supporting local charities such as BARB Search & Rescue, Burnham Coastguard Rescue Team, Burnham-on-Sea RNLI, St Margaret’s Hospice and the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund, as well as the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance, Alzheimer’s Society and Injured Jockeys Fund.
