On Saturday 15th December, holiday park owners from Brean and representatives from the leisure industry joined together for the second annual Brean Charity Ball at The Bucket & Spade at Brean Leisure Park.
Over 200 people attended the black tie event, which raised over £8,000 from tickets to the event, raffle ticket sales and a charity auction on the night, where attendees also enjoyed a buffet and live entertainment.
Director, Alan House, said “We would like to thank everyone that attended on the night and gave so generously, and also to everyone that donated one of the fantastic raffle prizes and experiences for the auction. We are overwhelmed at the amount we raised, which will be going to St Margaret’s Hospice”
With Holiday Resort Unity now closed for the season, all proceeds made from carrier bag sales at the on-site Costcutter supermarket this year, totalling £1,580, have been donated to the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Store Manager Phil Davies said “Following the resort as a whole becoming a Dementia Aware business this year, I thought this would be a great charity to support, and we are looking at other ways or working with them going forward. Being a multi-generational holiday resort, we feel it is very important to ensure that we are aware of the needs of all of our day visitors and people who stay here on site”
Staff across all areas of the Holiday Resort Unity, Brean Splash and Brean Play, undertook their Dementia Friends Training earlier in the year, and this has now become part of the annual induction with the new intake of staff at the beginning of the season.
The Team Brean staff Christmas party also donated all proceeds from bar sales to the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance.
