Now heading into its 11th year, the Weston-super-Mare Sand Sculpture Festival has become something of an institution, offering an unmissable experience to everyone who visits the popular seaside town. The “festival” is open from 25th March-9th October 2016 and can be found on the main beach off Weston-super-Mare’s Marine Parade right by the Seaquariam.
Tickets and opening times
The attraction is open from 10am-6pm daily with last admissions at 5pm. Tickets are £3.50 for adults, £3 for concessions, £2.50 for children aged 3-15 and free for children under 3. You can also purchase a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) for £10.
What you’ll find there
Every year the festival organisers choose a new theme, then create amazing sculptures out of nothing but sand and water to fit that theme. Previous years have seen sand art based around Fairy Tales, The Continents of the World, Under the Ocean, Great Britain, The Jungle, Fun & Games, Hollywood and Once Upon a Time.
As well as a range of premade sculptures, the team also regularly create new pieces live while you watch. They’ll also answer your questions and take you on a guided tour to help you get the most out of the attraction. You can take photos with the sculptures, including becoming part of the art in carefully set up tableaus, giving you some really great photos to act as a memento of your trip!
